Save the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel

It's not too late to voice your opinion about Senate Bill 192, which has been continued until the Senate Transportation Committee Meeting on Thursday, February 9th at 2:00pm.

Many Eastern Shore of Virginia citizens believe the passing of this vote would have a negative impact for the future of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.  More information and an online petition opposing Senate Bill 192 can be found at  Save the Bridge Tunnel.   There have been over 5,400 names added to this petition which will be forwarded directly to the Senate prior to the vote.

Broadband 101 "Untangle the Wires" Workshops

The Northampton County Extension Office and the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) will host two hands-on workshops that will help local businesses and households on the Eastern Shore of Virginia understand the details and ecomonic benefits of installing broadband telecommunications technologies.

The workshops, titled "Broadband 101: Untangling the Wires," will be held at two locations in March, 2006.  Please choose one workshop that is convenient for you to attend.  These workshops are provided "free of charge" by our sponsors.  A working meal will also be served at no charge.  PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED 757-414-0731 x221.

Workshop dates and locations:

(1) Wednesday, March 22 (Evening) 4:30pm-8:30pm to be held at the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce in Melfa, Virginia.   A working meal will be served.

(2) Thursday, March 23 (Daytime) 10:00am-2:00pm to be held at the Northampton County Social Services Building in Eastville, Virginia.   A working meal will be served.

Led by broadband strategist and implementation specialist Ron Perry, of grep Innovation LLC, and Karen Jackson, CIT's Vice President of Broadband Programs, the workshops will take participants through the basics of broadband and provide the necessary tools to determine where and how broadband connectivity can best benefit their organization or household.
