Where are we?
"The Land Between Two Waters"
The Eastern Shore of Virginia is made up of two counties (Accomack and Northampton) located on the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula on the East Coast of the United States. It is approximately 696 square miles of rich farmland, undisturbed beaches and wildlife, and small towns rich in history and culture. Conveniently situated, many larger East Coast cities are within short day trips, including Baltimore, MD (140 miles), Norfolk, VA (45 miles), Washington, D.C. (150 miles), and Richmond, VA (125 miles). To get to the Shore from the south by Route 13 North, visitors are greeted by "One of the Seven Engineering Wonders of the Modern World". Considered the world's largest bridge-tunnel complex, the 17-mile-long Chesapeake Bay Bridge & Tunnel has captured worldwide attention as a modern engineering wonder and an important East Coast travel convenience for over 30 years. After crossing the Bridge, visitors can enjoy the unique opportunity to be within only a few miles of both the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean! Less than 20 miles wide at its broadest point, and 75 miles long, the Shore is split down the middle by Route 13, providing easy access to many of the picturesque towns that populate the Shore.
